Start with the place and the question
A field note is easier to act on when it identifies the field, crop, season, and what you observed. Use plain descriptions and separate observations from assumptions. “Standing water visible near the south access point” says more than “drainage problem” when the cause has not been established.
Give the next visit a purpose
Add an explicit next action and review date. A priority label helps organize your own attention; it is not an independent assessment of crop risk. Keep recommendations from a qualified adviser in their appropriate context rather than treating a software label as a diagnosis.
Keep the outcome beside the observation
When you complete the follow-up, record what changed and what remains unresolved. WD Fieldwork requires an outcome note before an action can be marked Completed. This records the account holder’s explanation; it does not independently verify that the work happened.
